Bienvenidos a Honduras

After a long journey through Houston we arrived this afternoon in San Pedro Sula. Heading in a haze, that only all night travel can impart, we first visited the mall across the street from the hotel to change cash, buy notebooks, a router, destornilladores (guess what that might be), and cell phone sim card.  All hits but the last, the cell provider we wanted was closed for business, not a bad start though!

Post shopping mall twilight zone we came back to the hotel room to set up the 5 Lenovo Thinkpad laptops we smuggled into the country.  The primary work was installing salesforce.com offline version.  This allows survey supervisors or ejecutores (the managers of technition build teams) to collect data and store it even if they have no network connectivity.  So long as they sync with salesforce.com once they return to a network access point the information automatically links and updates the online database.

Tomorrow we go to Tigo, the local cell provider, to get the laptops configured for (at least some) field connectivity, the first hurdle!
